My fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, why do you pray for others?

I'm asking this question to other Christians to get their perspectives on why they pray for others.

Personally, I pray for others, particularly atheists, when they don't agree with me and I can't convince them. Thus, the only way to get them to believe as I believe is through prayer—which never seems to work.

You know that praying for us will not make us belive you. if you want us to belive you show me proof,(something that i can see or touch) that proves that god exists

What I cant understand is why you would pray for us. It means absolutely nothing to us. If it makes you feel better fine, but it means nothing to me.

I pray for others because I've heard that there is a horrible tragedy happening close to my hometown. Juarez isn't a safe place right now so I'm praying for all of the innocent people to be safe. If any of you heard the news of what's happening in Juarez, Mexico right now you'd understand. This is the reason why I'm praying for others.

You admit yourself that your prayers don't work. Why do you continue? Here's a quick test to measure the effectiveness of prayer - Pray with one hand, shit in the other and watch which one fills up faster.

When people don't agree with me, even when I think they are utterly absurd, I just write it off their right to believe whatever they damned well please.

I have a theory that prayer only works when you care about the things that you are praying for and that it ALWAYS works when you care about the issue that you are praying for and are crying out to god... unless some act of wickedness, rebellion or disobedience disqualified or delayed your prayer...
