my mechanic suggest to change the tyres since it is ten year old. On appearance i could not find any brittle. Its a radial Bridge stone tyre. What is the life of a tyre? Please advice.
The life of a tire (with an "i") depends on your driving style and the quality of the tarmac, and it is measured in kilometers or miles, not in years. My Pirelli P3000 tires had to be changed after 50,000 km, but the roads in my country are not very good. I also like to see my car getting from 0 to 60 pretty fast, so you can imagine that my tires had to work pretty hard sometimes.
Well look at the treads if they look fine then there is no problem but if they look a little worn out you'll have to change it. You are saying it is ten years old you should have by now changed you car itself (my dad does so in 3 years) so that you get good mileage and all, and also how many Km has your car run it is the actual factor that determines the tire changing period. People say after 35000Km you must change car tyre to avoid accidents
