She has just asked me for advice, telling me that I'm the most modest and unselfish person she has ever met. She then asked me, "Why am I like this?! I'm always competing with *her friend's name* about grades and what I buy. I just don't know what to do! How do you ignore people when they brag to you and trying to hold back your competing responses?"

I honestly just told her, I just don't know. I mean, I'm just NOT that type of person, I've never been obsessed about materialistic things, and the only people I tell my grades too are my parents, not my friends. But she wasn't satisfied with that response.

I mean, is there a way to be "un - materialistic"?

She was hoping she wouldnt be alone .. she does that most likely and was hoping she wasnt the only one. which she isnt

it takes alot of self reflecting!!!

sounds like she's going to have a really hard time not competing with your other friend

I think you answered her the best way you knew how...

Tell her alwel u think what you want and keep doin your thing get good grades go to college and get the better job then find the better husband orrrr you could just do what makes you truly happy and screw what other people think other than your parents
