my girlfriend is afraid of my dad..?

ok, me and my girlfriend live with my folks, and i just found out from her that she is afraid of my dad, especially when he has ran out of smokes and gets a little cranky.
but she has no reason at all to be afraid of him, he would NEVER hurt or be nasty to any family member let alone a female (he's dead against violence to women), she says its probably stems from past relationships she and her mum have had, ( both were in abusive relationships in the past), now how can i get her to see that she has nothing to fear and to feel safe???

Explain to your dad. Make you girl feel safe. When you are sitting with her in front of your dad put your arm around her in a loving way and hug her and make her feel like you are her knight in shining armor and you will protect her, good Luck X

getting over a abusive relationship is hard. give her some time and she will learn to trust your dad. just be there for her and she'll be ok in time

This doesn't seem odd to me, when i was younger (like elem. school younger) my friend jessie (girl) was afraid of my dad (even though her dad was this strict army guy, I'm sure he NEVER hit her or anything though) and i didn't see why, but my dad is kind of intimidating (he was probably about 250lbs of muscle at that time) to a little girl, but i didn't see it because, hey that's my dad, not some big scary guy. I think only time and hanging out with your dad and seeing what kind of guy he really is will make her feel safe, and of course you loving her lol.

honestly most girls are afraid of their boyfriends dads just the same way as most guys are afraid of girlfriends dads. its human nature just comfort her she will soon realise that there is nothing to worry about abuse relationships scare people deeply just show her that you love her and she will be fine
