I bought the 4runner a month ago. The seller gave me only 1 key set. I bought 2 keys and a remote from ebay a week ago but didn't have time to have the key cut and programmed. I should have done it earlier as my husband just lost my car key a few days ago.
I called Toyota dealer, they told me the ECU must be
replaced with a new master key set, etc., because this model year did
not contain a reprogrammable ECU. I heard that Toyota has a program to give you a new E.C.U. but you pay for two master keys,programming,& labor,and cost you about $275. Do they still offer this? Can an experienced locksmith make a new key for me and how much would it cost? I live in Los Angeles, CA. Thank you.
