...decreased...Battery new but bad still....? I replaced the battery and the remote still works but the range still stinks....I used to be able to lock/unlock from over 30 ft away now maybe 3-5 ft....Maybe the IR reciever is covered?
 
it could be the actual keyless entry key fob, probably just its starting to wear out from being used and the signal being sent isn't as good, also you can try different angles, i kind of had that same thing with my older one that i got with my truck but when i bought a new one it worked from about 50 feet when with the older one i had to be right up at the truck like yours is now
