My mother spilled mountain dew all over the gear/shifter area of my '05

Mitsubishi Montero.READ MORE INFO PLZ!? Now, whenever I start the Montero up, the traction control says on, AND off. The parking, neutral, and drive light is on, all at the same time in the "gear indication" next to the odometer, AND whenever i'm in park, and try to change to drive, a violent shutter occurs, AND on top of that, the car won't go into 3rd gear, or go over 40mph without burning up the engine... I NEED HELP!!!!!! PLEASE!!!
 
If the shifter is between the seats, then the spill may have shorted a circuit in the console, and the burned wires and/or board will need to be replaced. That could explain the lights, and traction control issue. The violent shudder and shift problems could very well be indicative of a larger problem with your transmission, or just low ATF. I would recommend taking it to an electrician/mechanic ASAP, otherwise the burned wires causing the short could cause even more problems.
