my parents wont let me act my age?

Im almost 14 and my parents still treat me like a 5 year old.They wont let me go out of the house unless Im going to a friends house that is just down the road, and they wont let me go biking with my friend more than 5 minutes away from the house, my parents always are worried about me and want to do stuff for me.If I ask my mum if I can go to the movies with a friend she forces me to go with her instead.She also makes me have my hair in a really ugly style and she wont let me have it below my shoulders.She wont let me shave my legs which is really embarrising as everyone else my age does, and Im not allowed to have a boyfriend untill Im 18.She wont even let me wear makeup, and she chooses my clothes for me.How can I make my parents let me act my age?

Get a part time job and save 20% of what you make for savings and spend the rest on what you like. As for waiting for permission, you'll wait forever. Shave those legs! Usually mothers don't notice until you've done it for a while. As for you hair, style it yourself! Get up and go into the bathroom. You're 14 not 5. If she doesn't like it, show her pictures of girls in YOUR school that have different styles. Tell her you get teased by it. Most parents will compromise if you approach them and act mature and bring up a good mature debate. If you had a job, they have less control on you. More than likely they'd approve of you having a job.

Gd, try being 19 and being treated like a 10 year old...its hell, i am not even allowed out when its dark because i might get jumped...and i am only walking LESS than quarter a block away to the shop...its annoying...AND its a VERY short block...i could make it there and back in less than five minutes, lol

Tell them that they are stifling you and you feel really claustrophobic in the box they insist in putting you in. They have to trust that you won't get into bad situations and KNOW what is right. PROVE to them that they can trust you by propositioning them...Do one thing at a time...ask them if you can do this and go slowly...too fast and they will resort back to the old ways..takes time
