My PC isn't reading the blank DVD-Rs but it reads the CD-Rs. What do I do?

I'm trying to burn family videos and this damned thing isn't working. Its reading all the blank DVD-Rs as CD-Rs. How do I fix this problem?

If your using windows media player it does not do DVD without adding on the codecs for DVD separately. Go on the web and find K-Lite codec pack it has the drivers needed for this.

What's your operating system? WinXP requires special drivers. Does your drive indicate that it writes DVDs? Has this ever worked for you on this machine?
