My Pet Goldfish is acting weird?

Okay, well my goldfish's name is Fred. And today was Fred's 1st birthday, so for a present I emptied out his water bowl and filled it up with Pepsi soda. But about 5 minutes later he stopped swimming around, and he is currently at the top of the bowl breathing rapidly. What's the matter with him?
