My roommate obsesses with celebrity gossip...?

I want to strangle my roommate. She is always talking about celebrities, movies, Oscar awards, red carpet events, "we need to see this movie because they were nominated", Kardashians, reality TV, and other crap. She literally is incapable of talking about anything else. She has a lonely empty life with four cats and she has to live vicariously through shallow, stupid Hollywood figures and put them on a pedestal in her mind.

How do I make her shut up? I can't even use the TV because she's always watching idiotic shows...
