My son will be 18 in Feb. He wants his step-father to adopt him. Can this be done

w/o his father's consent? His father has had NOTHING to do with my son in YEARS!! My son asked his father to sign over rights back in the summer but he said no.
 
never,,,but he can legaly change his name,or if you would like you can go through the courts,but you could have done that when he was 13,he had the right to choose at that age,but right now he can change his name to the step fathers last name,,,,good luck and god bless,,...
 
If you have 100 percent parental rights then yes otherwise it will be a long drawn out court battle. However, since he is turning 18 soon it might prove to be difficult.
