In my dorm room I have two speakers hooked up to a central unit with controls (I guess it's called the head?). Just a little while ago they worked perfectly at any volume.
I changed the stereo wires. The new ones are much longer and much thicker. Now, whenever the volume gets above a certain level, the head shuts itself off. It seems to be a circuit-breaker-like effect. What is it about the new wires that is making it shut itself off? Can I fix it by shortening the wires, maybe? My head is pretty old and only has volume controls (I can't turn down the amp or anything).
I just bought the wires and they cost like 20 bucks, I'm not anxious to get some more or go back to the old ones. Suggestions?
