I have a 1991 Chevy S-10. While driving it yesterday my truck throttled down while still pressing the gas pedal then kept going like normal. I didn't think anything of it until it happened and my engine shut off. I coasted it into a parking lot, put it in park, turned the key to off, then started it up. It would throttle down over and over until the engine turned off again. The lights dimmed every time it throttled down.

either the alternator is going out or the fuel pump is going out,if you can restart it this might be a sign the fuel pump is going bad on it,have the computer scanned on it to make sure it doesn't have any trouble codes on it that might hep you in fixing this problem, good luck.

If the vehicle started up after this problem with the "throttling down" it's not likely your alternator.
It sounds like a fuel related problem. Check the fuel pressure and go from there.

sounds like a fuel problem.possibly fuel lines are clogged, bad gas. and can also be ur alternator too.
