My USB isn't automatically recognized when I plug it into the USB port.?

When I plug my USB into the USB drive my computer doesn't recognize it. Normally when I plug it in an auto run box would pop up. But now when I plug it in, nothing happens, and the name of my USB isn't found in My Computers and I clicked on each and every available USB port there is - and all of them are empty.
How do I solve this problem?
