Does anyone have a tried and true recipe for mulled or spiced ale that they know is good and the proportions are right? I can't seem to find a recipe that doesnt' call for some commercially-prepared spice mix that doesn't exist where I live, or how to make it "from the hops up." I just want to mull some ale on the stove.
I have access to dark German ale and would like to make it with sugar and spices, but I know if you get the proportions wrong it can taste bitter and strange.
