need an interesting topic for a paper about women in the middle east?

I dont want to write about veiling or the harem, i would like to learn something but be able to find information to write the paper, too. any ideas on interesting topics? it is supposed to be on the history of women in the middle east, and other than that it is open for choice.
 
You could do something on history in the making: the emergence of women in leadership positions in the more conservative Arab states of the Gulf, i.e. the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait. The number of women appointed to government posotions is slowly but steadily growing.
