I've tried burning a movie to a blank DVD (the DVD itself is a Sony DVD+R, 4.7Gb). I tried burning it with Windows Media Player and it tells me to insert a blank disc, and I sit there bitching at it, KNOWING it's a blank one I just put in. I tried burning it with DivX Plus Player and it'll burn it but it also isn't compatible with the DVD player we have (it's a Magnavox from Walmart; $30) and I also need to try to region-free it, if possible. A friend of mine told me to download Torrent Roxio Creator 2011 but it's a bigger file size than some movies are! I had a time converting the movie using DivX last night; took almost 7 hours! I have another movie I have acquired as well and don't want to go thru the hell and hassle of waiting hours on end for it to convert so I can burn it to a DVD that will play on any DVD player. If anyone can help, please let me know. I'm wanting to watch this movie I already have tonight at some point. Thanks!

The key to your question is 'Play on ANY DVD player'
To do that , you cant burn just the divx file, it has to convert to the standard DVD format, and you will need special tools such as ConvertX or something smiliar.

strongly recommend this free dvd burner:

winx free dvd author

it can burn avi, divx, xvid, mp4, m4v, wmv, flv, mkv to dvd. and u don't have to wait 7 hours for the dvd, it complete a 4.3 g dvd within one hour, and the quality is sharp.

u can follow the steps to have a try
