I have an 03 Pontiac Grand Prix. the car eats gas like its Goin out a style. I went to dealer and they said that the cat converter is bad which is the cause for the bad gas. However I have changed the car converter before and it only has 130k. So my question is if I totally remove just the cat converter will it improved gas and the bigger question is how loud will it be cause I don't really want a lot of sound. If its a little bit louder it's ok but don't want loud at all

Please HELP thanks

Lol they're lying. my dad has an 05 grand prix and they told him to change the catalytic converter and it did nothing. the car gets great highway mileage but sh177ty mileage in town. My dad even sais he thinks the mileage got worse from getting the new catalytic converter. You should probqbly just remove it and see how it is for a week.

It will be against the law and will cause the check engine light to stay on. I will not advise some one to brake the law so just fix it right. The newer catalytic converters don't restrict air flow that much so removing it will only give you a very slight improvement in mileage.
