Need to know the name of a Sci Fi Program that involved a leviathan.?

Many years ago, I watch a series on I believe the Sy Fi channel [then Sci Fi] that was about a ship that was a living leviathan that had a crew of aliens and one earthling named John. Does anyone know the name of this series?
