No, I'm not a grammar Nazi. I'm just pointing out that the apologists for canine noise pollution have one thing in common - they are incredibly stupid. On the other hand, the two posts which follow, from victims of canine noise pollution, are well written and show their authors to be of at least reasonable intelligence.

That's the point. People who are so concerned about some stupid dog's welfare that they put its rights above everything else are incredibly stupid, and it shows from the pathetic and illiterate abuse they post here. It should be obvious to anyone with an IQ above 30 that none of us WANT to kill a dog and have been driven to consider it by circumstances beyond our control, but apparently some people are too retarded to understand this simple fact. I cannot tell you how much I have loved this thread. All my life I’ve had problems dealing with barking dogs and their evil owners. If I express my feelings I am subjected to the rabid hysterical mob. On another forum when I discussed merely taking the offenders for a long ride elsewhere, I was accused of unredeemable psychopathy. As I told them there, psychopathy breeds psychopathy. It is sadistically evil to know and enjoy the fact that your precious animal is making people miserable and dare them to stop it – it is a power trip of epic passive-aggressive proportions. I have been told that my own self-defense and sanity should take a back seat to other’s property rights. Easy to say when you are not the one being driven insane.

I have often wondered about the inner workings of people who can just ignore a barking dog. I have often wished I would be one of them. Hell, I would have sold my SOUL many times to be one of them. But I do not have the special gene that allows a person to just ignore it. I have often wondered if those people are addicted to noise and chaos – it seems to be the case, since the majority of those offenders I have run across seem to be incapable of living a moment of their lives without being surrounded by screaming children, blaring radios, whirring power tools, and the MANDATORY barking of multiple dogs. However, society’s answer to a noise addiction is simple – headphones. Your “right” to noise 24/7 does not trump the rights of everyone within a 3 mile radius, you egotistical psychopath, you!

To address the argument that “if you’d kill a dog for barking you’d kill a child for screaming” – honey, you wouldn’t HAVE to. A child can be communicated with. You can look a child in the eye and say “cease this behavior or I will hurt you” and it will understand and believe. You cannot communicate this way with a dog.

Further arguments of fervent “dog lovers”:
1). “Dogs HAVE to bark” – a lie. I’ve known and owned many quiet dogs in my life. They ALL do not bark incontinently because they cannot help it. What bullshit!
2). “Dogs can’t be trained not to bark” – a lie, I trained multiple dogs not to bark when I was a child in grade school. Your laziness causes you to lie.
3). “If a dog barks, its because it needs something” – a lie. It “needs” a bullet to the brain. I have watched habitual barkers and they are actually barking because they are bored. I have been accused of irrationally projecting emotions upon dogs that they cannot have for making that statement, but I know it is true – dogs can and DO bark merely for their own entertainment.
4). “It’s a watchdog protecting my property” – a lie. If it barks 24/7 how will you have any idea if someone is on your property? That’s akin to letting your smoke alarm blast continuously because it makes you feel protected from fire. Its bullshit. Also, I have noticed that your particular dog is quiet until you come HOME, and then it barks for hours trying to get your attention. If it only barks when you are present, what the hell can you pretend its accomplishing?
5). “It’s a member of my family” – a lie. You don’t chain a member of your family screaming to a tree for its entire life – not if you “love” that family member. You don’t encourage your beloved family members to be as obnoxious as they wanna be and not expect them to make murderous enemies.
6). “I LOVE my dog” – really? If you love and value something, do you let it run loose in the world and be at the mercy of the world and all its dangers? Or do you keep it close by you and keep it happy (and hence blissfully quiet)? Your behavior of apathetic neglect is not LOVE, its laziness, you self-serving lying scum.
7). “My dog is an important part of my family” – a lie. I have noticed that the majority of miserable dogs screaming tied to a tree are deliberately placed by their owners as far as humanly possible away from their house (and as close to their neighbor’s property as possible). If you don’t like YOUR animal enough to have it IN YOUR HOUSE, you should understand why nobody else is going to like it either.

I am gratified to know there are sane human beings that agree that a human’s rights to peace should trump an animal’s desire to make noise. You are my soulmates, and may you all find the peace in your own home that we are all deserve – by ANY MEANS NECESSARY.

To the person who wondered if anonymous notes do any good: They are a useful tool for understanding the psychology of your neighbor. Example: Write a short simple note “Your barking dog is driving me crazy. If it does not stop barking, it will die.” This will bring one of 3 results:
1). A sane neighbor who is either considerate or wants to keep their dog will cause the barking to cease. You both win.
2). A lazy neighbor will let the barking continue. The note comes true.
3). A sadistic aggressive psychopath will up the ante by adding a couple more barking dogs. Better to frame the neighbor for an illegal act or burn his house down than go after the dogs – he’s enjoying your pain, and psychopathy begets psychopathy.

How about combining ground up tylenol (or paracetamol), dark chocolate, rat poison, and anti-freeze and adding the mixture to a bowl of fresh meat.
I live in a third world country where most of the neighbors allow their dogs to roam around at will and breed freely. To the person who posted "trashy and paranoid people". - that accurately describes certain residents of my area.
They feel they must have a dog to deter intruders. I guess it makes them feel safe. However, the dogs bark all night whether or not there is an intruder in the vicinity, so it really doesn't make sense. Just damned annoying
I have not yet put my plan into action, trying to put up with the nuisance. I try wearing earplugs, but it doesn't really help.

Killing wild dogs

We have a dog that one of our males brought back some time ago. Last fall she had a litter and because she is quite wild, she would not let anyone near the dogs. We found homes for two of them, but by the time we were able to get near them they were to wild to find homes for. Shortly after they killed one of our pigs so we had to have them shot.

This past spring when the female dog had another litter we tried to get them and find them homes. Thinking she had only three pups we got a hold of two found them homes but the third disappeared. Thinking it died we forgot about it, until this weekend.

When i went to take care of the animals my husband said, "I have bad news", thinking at first one of our goats died at child birth I walked in to see that, actually, one of the older goats had been killed by an animal. When I asked my husband what happened he told me when he pulled up he saw three dogs and that one looked like the female dog. They killed her, chewed up her neck and took a chunk out of her backside.

Yesterday while trying to figure out what to do about the dogs I heard something outside to see that there was actually four of them, all about 6 months old, not dogs but growing puppies. They where trying to get our chickens. I shooed them off and that night we decided to lock up our dogs and put rat poison out mixed with chicken bones and canned catfood. Before getting the chance a neighbor called to tell us the dogs were in with the goats. They killed one of our female nannies, the first goat my husband had since he began farming, they bit a hole in her juggler vain and all she could do was lie there gasping and doing a gurgling scream through the blood that was clogging up her throat. She did not make it, the nanny was also due to have a baby pretty soon.

I made the poison dinner for the pups and it was gone this morning, hopefully they got. SO for those who think getting rid of vicious dogs is so terrible, remember they are animals and if not raised by a gentle hand will not give a second thought to harming your livestock and pets. When a dog gets like that and has a taste for blood, they will do the same to a human, especially when packed up like that. When I yelled at the dogs to git they were not ever afraid of me, seriously four against one, I have no weapon, what could I have done if they decided to jump on me?

You need to take a sponge and use rubber bands to compress it into a small ball. Mix it in food or soak in blood with food. Once the dog eats the food and that compressed sponge the rubber bands will break and the sponge will expand. The dog will not die right away, but it will give it time to die at your neighbors house and not yours. Nobody will know how it died. Dogs are a nuisence and if they run and bother people they should die. To all the tree hugging PETA S--T head kiss my butt I have killed many this way. I'll take barking dogs over noisy builders any day. Builders are like cockroaches - once you've got an infestation of them around you, you've got a serious problem that won't go away any time soon. The bastards start around 7am, often at weekends too, and play with their power tools until they've pissed everyone off. Then they'll be quiet for couple of hours, long enough for you to wonder why they couldn't start the noisy stuff later, and after that they'll carry on making anti-social noise until well into the evening.

Sure they have a job to do, but they show no consideration for local residents in terms of the noise, mess and obstruction they cause. Dogs don't realise what a nuisance they can be; builders do and just don't care. They'll often spin out the work they're doing to get more money because they are usually pikeys who don't give a shit about anyone other than themselves. I'm amazed that some nutter hasn't used bullets to deal with the problem (perhaps they have, but if so I haven't heard about it).

I do understand that someone might want to kill a dog that barks all night and I don't blame anyone who tries to do this. Fair point. It's just that I've been so wound up by being woken at 7am at weekends by banging and drilling that the sound of the local dogs barking sounds like sweet music by comparison. I think both forms of noise pollution are as bad as each other, but whichever one you're having inflicted on you seems worse at the time. As you say though, at least building work usually has a finite time period, long though it may seem. I just hope they finish quickly!

Have you actually read this whole thread? If you have you'll see that every single aspect of killing nuisance dogs has been covered many times over. This is an excellent thread for victims of canine noise pollution but let's be honest, it ran out of steam some time ago. Nobody's going to come up with anything that hasn't been thought of already. Everything that can conceivably be used to kill a dog has been mentioned. All the justifications for killing nuisance dogs have been stated (very well) several times over. Contributions of any sort are few and far between these days.

It's a bit harsh to call someone a moron for simply pointing out that there are other forms of annoying noise than barking dogs, especially when he/she agreed with the general principle of killing nuisance dogs. Why not save the abuse for the selfish dog lovers? They're the real morons.
