neighbors are complaining about our dirty yard?

new neighbors moved in a while ago (we don't know them well we have just seen them outside) and they have told us verbally to clean our backyard, thrown stuff at our house and left us a note saying to clean our backyard.

it is dirty but and we are going to clean it but it's MY backyard. don't i have the right to have a dirty backyard? they are now starting to gossip about us with the other neighbors trying to get them against us. so rude how do we deal with them

To them it is very rude of you to treat your own home, and the look of theirs the way you are. Your neighborhood is your home. If they were to try to sell their home, with your yard looking bad, it would lower the price of their home. It matters alot. You need to think about why they would feel that way.
