new windows instillation, no internet?

I just re-enstalled windows xp home edition on an Inspirion 1150 and for one reason or another i cant connect to the internet to download the new dirvers. I have tried just hooking the laptop up to my router via cat-5 and installing the software for a belkin expansion card and i cant connect to the internet. I have tried start run cmd, ipconfig ./renew. But i cant connect even to wireless. Am i missing something. Any help would be great....
 
Your network card probably needs a driver. Without it you can't get to the net at all. You will have to get it from another pc and put it on disk if you can't find the ones that came with your pc.
