nicotine gum kind of burns my throat? will it go away the more i use it?

ive been dippin tobacco for the past two years and now im stopping and im using the nicotine gum, but it sucks that it kinda burns your throat. ive heard your suppose to spit it but idk about that, will it go away after i use it for a while.
