I've just been thinking about my next car I will be getting (with in the next few months) and I'm in a bit of a bind thinking wise. It's for sure going to be either a Z32, or a S14, I just don't know which one to choose from.
I've wanted a Z32 since I was a kid, and I love the body, but I just don't want something really hard and expensive to maintain. Just looking under the hood gives me headaches, I'm sure I could learn, however, I'm 19, and about to transfer to a University next year, and probably going to live off campus in a apartment. Spending money on my car because something gets broken every other week is a worry I don't want. I will have a backup car (Honda Accord) but I'm not a fan of having a car just sit broken for months. I like to get it fixed pretty quickly. I definitely couldn't afford the maintenance of a TT, along with my budget. (5,000)
I really love the look of the s14,easier to work on, a lot cheaper for performance, lighter, and more reliable. Of course the KA is under powered, especially to the VG30DE, however, a lot easier to upgrade.
Point being, are 300zx(NA's) that difficult to work on like I hear? I want something that is a DD, but is also quick and can hold it's on. I'm leaning towards the s14 just because it's more suitable to what I would need over the 300zx(cheaper, easier to maintain) and I want something I can actually modify. The swaps for the 240 are cheap, and the performance I could get out of a SR is exactly what I would want, and cheap. (I'm not going to get the TT Z32), a VG30DE is something I don't know I would actually like to modify, but I hear the VG30DETT swaps aren't that expensive or hard.
