Hi I have a 1999 Nissan Maxima. The car had no starting trouble entire winter and used to start at once. Last week while returning from wal-mart I just stopped my car at apartment's mail center. I turned the engine off for couple of minutes. After that when I tried to start the engine it didn't make any sound (no crank) except a CLICK. I tried 30 times but no success. I pushed the car and parked it in parking lot. Next morning when I tried to start it, it started in one shot. Then it was fine for next 3 days. After that again one day it behaved same way and after a while it started in one shot. I thought it was weak battery and replaced it but just one hour later it had same problem. The wal-mart technician said it has something to do with Solenoid. Can some one tell, if he/she had similar experience? How much replacing Solenoid costs? Can that be replaced easily at home OR requires skilled mechanic? Thanks for your help!!!

It's either that or the starter itself. The solenoid should cost $60-70 for parts if you can do it yourself, and probably $150ish installed.
