Hi,
I had just recently had my Nissan Patrol Serviced with new Diff oil and gearbox oil , I also had a new Oil filter and Airfilter put in as well as a Slave cylinder replaced. The car was getting prepared for a long drive from Victoria to North of Brisbane.
So we got here ok but after about a week i noticed it started running bad on petrol mainly - i thought it may have been the idle screw adjustment because it wasnt adjusted to run on petrol but gas. The car would just stop running if i took my foot off the peadl ( on petrol only )
Anyway today i go to start the car and it starts but sounds like a harley chopper bike. A very loud sound is coming from one of the gaskets or exhaust areas?? i took off the cover on the exhaust manifold pipes to find the bolts where a bit loose and the gasket looked a bit black a cracked around some of the connections to the head. I checked under the car to find no holes or busted areas in the muffler or exhaust.
Is this a serious job or expensive? could there have been too much diff oil put in or gearbox oil? or was it just the long drive that has revealed another old part that needs attention?
If anyone can help with what it may be exactly or if it is the manifold gasket... how much parts and labour for that would cost i would greatly appreciate it.
Regards
John
