nissan rogue or toyota rav4?

I'm thinking about one of these cars. I like that the Rogue is more finished-looking (no roof rack, spare tire is hidden) and that it is cheaper. I would get the S trim line. As for the Rav4, I think I would get the very base 2WD 4-cyl. model (I'm on a budget).

I was just wondering what people think about safety, reliability, etc. How is the rear visibility on the Rogue? The rear windshield looks small.

Also, not that this really matters, but of all things for the Rogue not to have, why vanity mirrors? Isn't that basic by now? Again, it doesn't matter, I just laughed when I compared the specs of the two cars and noticed this.
