Tank: 55 gallon Marine/trickle filter/protein skimmer/65 lbs of live rock/live sand/1 clown, 1 blue damsel, 1 lawnmower blenny, 1 emerald crab
I just moved my tank to my new apartment and incidentally ended up throwing almost all of the water to make the move easier than trying to find enough containers for 55 gallons. I replaced the water with distilled water completely, bought and added new salt, and another bag of live sand. I did the dramatic water change also in hope to lower my nitrates which were around 60 ppm. However, when I tested my water a few hours later, my nitrates were at 20 ppm. I thought they would be around 0 with me using distilled instead of tap. Any suggestions how to get them lower? Or why I have that high of nitrates in a completely changed tank?
