No suspension Mt.Bike for Mt.Bike racing?

I just signed up for the new mountain bike team at my school, and i have a mountain bike, but it just does not have any front suspension or back.

I have seen some vids of the racing, and it seems like all the racers have front suspension.

i am okay with no back suspension, but will my cannondale be alright for racing. It is a mountain bike, just no suspension in the front.

I will be racing in a high school league in nor cal.
My bike should be alright, right?

i plan to upgrade to a Mt.bike with front suspension maybe next year,

but people race mountain bikes with out suspension right?
 
sure you can use this bike but its going to be hell on your body. Essentially YOU are the suspension on this bike and you will have to absorb all of the rough terrain with your knees while standing on the pedals. In due time you will want to upgrade to a XC type bike that will perform much better for you but you should be able to do fine with what you have for now . Just think of how much you will appreciate that new front fork later on and the experience of the old bike you leave behind!
