Notification Ringtone for LG Optimus help?

I want to change my notification ringtone to a part of a song I have. The part of a song is located in the Music file of my phone. I can set that song as a ringtone but not as a notification. How do I set it as a notification?
I have tried going to Settings in the messages and I have tried going to Settings in the whole phone. Both didn't work.
