I have a 2005 GMC W4500 with a diesel engine. At an auto parts store I was told that the OBD2 scanner they had in the store wouldn't work with diesels. The clerk then told me I would need a different scanner, which costs more than 200 dollars more. My question is, does it really make a difference that it's a diesel engine when reading the on board diagnostics?
