Odd voice counting into infinity in the backgound of a telephone call?

Once I've heard someone mentioning something about background voice during phone conversation counting large numbers seemingly into infinity. Thing happened in the US but I can't find any references in the internet. Can anyone please shed some light on this odd phenomenon or send a link to a website that might have referenced this in the past? Thanks
