I've had a '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee for a couple years now and it's got about 120k miles. I take very good care of it. I've noticed for quite some time that it's had a few issues which I haven't been able to isolate, and today something happened which I'm wondering if it's the culmination of the other issues or something different altogether.
1. Whenever I go on a long trip (e.g. 700 miles) it always gives me a check engine light for a cylinder misfire. It has new plugs/wires and everything is seated properly.
2. If I accidentally let go of the key before it's started, trying to start it a second time is a crapshoot, almost like the battery is dead. The battery is brand new and there's no way it doesn't have enough current to start the car after one failed attempt of 1-2 seconds.
With that said, it didn't start on my first attempt today, so I turned the key again and the engine kept turning over the second time, finally starting after about 10 seconds. When it did finally start, the engine was running very rough like it was missing one or more cylinders. I thought maybe it was flooded so I revved it to about 1500rpm to keep it from stalling and to burn off any excess gas. The engine continued to run rough and I noticed my oil pressure gauge is now pinned to the max reading whenever the car is running. I don't dare leave it running for more than a few seconds.
I was thinking the misfires and starting problems may have been a bad coil or a fuel line problem, but now that my oil pressure is jacked I don't know. Any ideas as to what could be going on? I don't know if the past issues are related to the oil pressure or if they're separate.
