Just got two BMXs out of the garage who are in a bit of a sorry state. I jetwashed both and stripped off the oil and clog that had formed around the chains and cassettes.
I then applied a combination of WD-40 and "castrol everyman oil" (a thicker lubricant).
I realise that wd-40 strips off the thicker lubricants and doesnt last, but what about castrol? Is this dangerous in any way?
I'm picking up some proper grease and lube soon but im just wondering whether i should leave them with oil or give them another jetwash to completely strip everything.

thanks!

If you jet wash into the bearings you will strip them of their grease and cause your headset and/or hubs to seize. You need to get a grease, not an oil for these areas. Oil will also clog up your chain and make it so you'll need to replace it sooner than necessary. Good intentions but bad materials. Get the proper grease and lube. You will save yourself money, and effort, in the long run.
