My cat has to go into the vet for dental surgery next month. The office gave me an estimate - it's going to be $1500-1700. FYI, I normally take her to a veterinary practice that specializes in cats. And they did not want to do the surgery and referred me to the second vet, whose essentially a dentist for cats.
I'm on unemployment and get $135/week. I can put it on a credit card, but wondered if given my current employment/financial situation, it would be appropriate/not tacky to ask for a reduction in the bill.
And if so, how do you think I should word it? I'm willing to pay for my cat's surgery but a little bit of a break would be nice so it won't take me months to pay off the bill.
Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
