Older dog whines when sitting to standing, randomly, and when attempting to eat?

My older (12yrs) dog whines when going from sitting to standing, and seems afraid to do so. Can't bend down far enough even to reach her dog bowl. She had an infection on her back left paw a while back but that doesn't seem to be the issue (she's not limping on it at least) she did however eat a couple chocolate covered neugot eggs I had in my closet, could this have something to do with it? Her whining is very loud and seems like she's in a lot of pain, could it just be againg or something else? It just came so suddenly aging didn't sound logical.. Any help is much appreciated!
Does arthritis come on so fast like that though? IE: no pain one day, immense pain the next? The transition seemed rapid not gradual..

When my older cat was doing exactly the same thing, eventually one day he couldn't even stand. We took him to the vet, he had bone cancer. We had to put him down.
