On the District 9 DVD there is a two option menu. What is the significance of each?

I was hoping that one option tells the story in a slightly different manner, but my real guess is that one is just the director's cut or something. I'm not going to go and watch it all the way through again just to find out, and if it is only a slight difference then I doubt I would notice.
