I have an Onan 30 EK gasoline generator w/ 6 cyl. Ford engine. I just bought it for $500.00. It run great and the meters on it all show its making voltage in all the phases, and I can measure 130V at my standard 110V duplex outlet, but as soon as I plug a light into it, my measured voltage through my voltmeter (not the meter on the generator) goes to zero and the light doesnt even try to come on. Unplug my light its goes back up to 140V. The meter on the generator always varies between 150 and 200V on the low scale and never changes no matter what i plug in. Theres voltage on all 3 legs (L1,L2,L3). Does the common for the 110V outlets hook to the frame or is there a lead coming from the generator itself that I use for common. (110V outlets were not hooked up when I got it) I dont need the 3 phase part of this generator, I only want 240V and 110V. Is there something common that goes wrong that I could replace or is this just a sign the generator is wore out. Can anybody help me with this please.
