I live in Winnipeg MB and am applying for a cooking job with the Jails, Prisons and Youth Center. I have been told that I need my degree or diploma in Culinary Arts. I was told by a chef that is currently working for them that I could just take an online cooking course and they would accept that. He did not specify the name of the course. That leads me here. I am looking for an Online cooking course that will be government approved. Anyone know of any? I have almost 20 years experience. Should I phone the local college? I need my degree in a couple of months.
I do have my Food Handler's certificate and have renewed it 3 times and it is currently up to date. I agree with you on the point that an online cooking course seems strange at best but the job is such a great opportunity I am willing to find any loophole to get hired. I am wondering if I just challenge the Red Seal test if that will be acceptable.
