Help Please, History Question :)?
How is the Byzantine Empire a continuity of the Roman Empire?
In what ways did it diverge from Rome and develop its own unique culture?
What contributions did it make to society today?

and i have a question that I don't really need the answer of but i was just curious about the inventions that were made during the Byzantine Empire. I googled it but i couldn'tt find anything. so?

The Roman Empire split in half in the 4th century AD. The western half (including the city of Rome) fell to barbarians in 476AD. The Eastern half, governed in Constantinople, lived on for another thousand years, and is referred to as the Byzantine Empire.

Culturally it was different than traditional Rome. The territories mostly spoke Greek, so after a few centuries the official language of the empire was changed from Latin to Greek. As Christianity was canonized, the Byzantines developed Orthodox Christianity, while the rest of Europe went Catholic.

While Europe was stuck in the Dark Ages, the Byzantine Empire remained civilized and helped to transmit ancient knowledge to the modern world.

They also invented Greek Fire, the first form of napalm ever used in warfare.
