...Dipping tobacco user? Hi there.

I smoked cigarettes for about two years in college. In an attempt to quit, I switched to dipping tobacco to satisfy my cravings. Yesterday, I noticed a strange white sore on the roof of my mouth on the right side. I picked it off and now it looks like a little hole or cut. I've only been dipping for about four-five months, but it's freaking me out.

Now, I just brushed my teeth to go to bed and noticed a little red spot--maybe a bleeding spot-- on my palette.

Is this symptomatic of mouth cancer or symptomatic of regular/mild dip tobacco use?

I would prefer first-hand experience comments only or professional and knowledgeable feedback, and especially no "quit tobacco cuz its BAD 4 u" comments. That's not what I'm looking for and that's an entirely different story.

To reiterate:

4-5 month dipping tobacco user

2 year smoker

sudden presence of white oral sores that bled when picked off

little bleeding patches on roof of mouth when brushing teeth

...What's the deal, here?
If this helps, I'm a slightly overweight 20 year old male who uses alcohol fairly regularly, but only on the weekends. I've read that alcohol use can increase the risk of oral cancer. Also, my grandfather had throat cancer.

But c'mon. I'm 20 years old. Is this really something I should be worried about? Or should I schedule an oral exam immediately?
