...Australian? I have been working towards enlistment in the USMC for months now but was disqualified because of a surgery I had when I was 2 years old (colon resection/Duhamel pullthrough). I don't have to express how disappointing it was finding out that this procedure DQ'ed me from military service in the US (no waivers; permanent disqualifier). So I was curious: is there any other military organizations in other countries equitable to the US Marines that I might not be disqualified from serving in? Especially in regards to Australia. Is there a division in their army? If so, how do I join?
Sounds weird and I love my country but being a soldier is important to me and there's nothing in civilian life that holds me here. I'm proud to be an American but I was going to be REALLY proud to be a US Marine. With service in the US military no longer an option, what are some equally respectable alternatives?
