Our new apple tv won't give sound only visual when connected to our LG tv through

HDMI? We recently bought an apple tv, when we connected it to our LG tv we didnt get any sound. Our TV is about 4 years old. What do we do, do we change settings or the cable.
BTW we checked the box on a Sony tv and it worked fine!
