paper on Galileo and separation of science and religion?

I have to write a paper using Galileo's arguments to discuss recent issues with separation of science and religion.
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or something that could help. Anything is appreciated.

What we can learn from Copernicus, Galileo and Darwin is that science constantly unveils what is true while religion--being developed by ancient people who knew nothing of science--keeps trying to hold us back out of fear of being wrong.
