For any parent, their main goal is to raise their children to do exactly the opposite of the bad things they did growing up. It's not as easy as it looks! Kaitlyn(15) reminds me every day that she isn't me, and wont make the same mistakes as my husband and I. It is so hard not to want to watch her every step just to make sure she doesnt get hurt, or do something wrong. I have finally just had to trust her, guide her where I can, and make sure she knows that things you do come with consequences. My other children are all under 8, so its alot easier to guide them in the right way, but really all you can do is trust that everything you do will turn out okay, and that you have raised a great child!! Hope I helped!

Be calm Speak clearly with strength look your child in the eye with caring words and mean them.
They always hear even though it sometimes seems not. But remember when you were young. You too had to learn the hard way on your own most likely. Allow your child to make mistakes. Ask them to trust you in knowing what is best. If they make a bad choice the punishment will be on them to put on themselves. That always worked with me. The boys would put a harder punishment on themselves- I got to be the good guy and take the harsh punishment to a liter version. Be calm talk do not scream. it will work out if you do that with heart.
