I have 3 computers: 2 xp desktops and 1 vista wireless laptop.
They are all connected through linksys router.
The problem is that I can see all 3 of my computers and access files from my vista laptop, but my 2 xp desktops can only see each other and not my vista laptop.
After playing around with networking a bit, I was able to find my vista wireless laptop and now the desktop I was working is able to see it.
But the problem is that when I try to access the file on the laptop, it requires a username and password. I don't ever recall setting such a password on my laptop. Why should it ask for one?
What can I do to access files on my laptop now that it asks for password?
Thanks for your help.
Ok, never mind, I have solved the problem myself. I just needed to turn off the password protected sharing option. Here's how you do it:
Go to Network and Sharing Center --> Sharing and Discovery,--> Password protected sharing --> Turn Off.
Now I could go back to my XP desktop and open it from there.

You should know your password, for the laptop. It would be the same you installed on it.
