Pedophilla vs. being Gay?

Now, before you guys go blowing your heads out of proportion and getting mad that I compared these two, let me tell you what it is about.

My religion teacher is a bigot towards the lgbt community. Today he said that being a homosexual was a choice. And being a lesbian, I disagreed. I said that we were born this way. That it was in our DNA. So then he said, "But Pedophiles say the same thing, that they were born that way". Sooner or later, I didn't know how to answer. I was really pissed and I still am.

So in short, I'd like you to give me good examples of how pedophilla is different from being gay and that being gay is not a choice and should not be linked with pedophilla.

being gay is legal in most western countries
same sex marriages are starting to be the norm
the man is being a sexist biggot and is actualy braking the law in my country
as are pedophiles
abusing and hurting children is illigal for a reason
if your teacher says anything other he should get out of his job
 
It isn't. It's like any fetish. People have a change in their brains which attract them sexually to things they are not biologically designed to. Just like the weirdos who have sex with inanimate objects like cars.

The difference is for a paedophile to act on their urges is a horrible crime whereas homosexuals can do what they like as consenting adults.
 
Not all gay people are born that way and either are all pedophiles, many pedophiles where subjected to sexual abuse when they were young.

The comparison is linear and shallow, and could not seriously be entertained in the real world.

Homosexuality is being attracted to same sex PEERS.
Pedophilia is about taking advantage of, and abusing children.
The majority of pedophiles identify as straight. The majority of pedophiles do not have sexual/romantic relationships with peers. The majority of pedophiles do not have a gender preference when it comes to their victims, they go for what they can get, male or female.
 
What reason would someone have to be homosexual? Let's entertain the idea that it is a choice, and the benefits of being gay compared to being straight are...............................................................................exactly.

Now if this teacher implies that it's different from being straight in that heterosexuality is "correct" or "pure", or "natural" (in some sense) then it could be argued that being gay is a mental or psychological issue, which wouldn't be "choice", it'd be a flaw in nature or development (not what I believe).

If you want to argue this from a religious standpoint, the translations of the verses with regards to homosexuality have been under speculation lately. Certain terms and phrases have been challenged, and interpretations through the centuries have changed repeatedly. Also, what of these biblical quotes - "judge not lest ye be judged" or "let he who is without sin cast the first stone"? These have no value, but homosexuality is still spotlighted????

PLUS!!! Aren't gay couples consenting, which nullifies the violation of body, whereas with kids..........it's still violation....
