The only other common I know of is trying anything with caffeine one cup of coffee or some chocholate. Unfortunately, iIt sounds that, like me, your options are limited and you must though through painful periods. The worst part of the pain last only a day or two and should be gone by the time you head back to school. Keep a "period" diary so you can describe your period (how long it last, how much pain there is and how heavy the flow) in detail when you visit your doctor. They will probably recommend you get on a low dose birth control (which helps a lot). Also, a good way to take the edge off your next period (make sure you keep track) is to start taking an over the counter med (Motrin, Aleve) a day or two before you are dure to start.

I might not be of much help since I don't really come up with long, educated answers, but I can give you suggestions from experience! Eat foods with potassium in them, such as bananas. They help me out a lot! Just relax, those horrible cramps will soon be over.
