Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter (pictured left) and St. Louis mayor Francis Slay (right) have agreed to wager a few cold ones, with the the losing mayor sending a supply of locally-made beers to the winner.
Should the Cardinals win, Nutter will be shipping away a variety of beverages from Philadelphia's vast selection of microbreweries. Should the Phillies win, Slay will of course be parting with a supply of St. Louis-based Budweiser.

Though you'd think the bet was tilted in St. Louis' favor, Mark McDonald, a representative of Mayor Nutter, felt the need to release a statement defending Philadelphia's microbrews, while engaging in a little trash talk.
"We produce some high-quality beverages in this city, and we think the mayor of St. Louis and the city needs to know about it and follow from example," McDonald said, "and after the fighting render the Cardinals wingless and speechless, they are going to need a beer, a quality beer."
There has been no response yet from the Slay camp, but maybe they're willing to let the Cardinals do the talking for them.
In addition to the beer bet, both mayors have agreed to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity in their respective communities. As you may recall, Nutter and New York mayor Michael Bloomberg made a similar arrangement during the 2009 World Series, which the New York Yankees won. Nutter was forced to wear a Yankees shirt while performing his services.
